Dr Lori Eddy

Dr Lori Eddy is an HPCSA registered counselling psychologist trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches and specialising in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). Lori is passionate about assisting adolescents and adults in overcoming their psychological difficulties and managing their problems of daily living by using evidence based approaches which have been proven effective through clinical research. Another of Lori’s keen interests is academics and she defines herself as a lifelong student who enjoys keeping abreast of cutting edge methodologies. She completed a B.Com degree, Honour’s in Psychology and Master’s in Psychology (all Cum Laude) at the University of the Free State, after which she enrolled for her PhD and was awarded her Doctorate in 2012. She completed her Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy through the Academy of Clinical and Medical Hypnosis in the UK and is a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) accredited practitioner.

In 2011 Lori moved back to South Africa and took up the role of Managing Director of a niched employee wellness company. This role allowed her to gain valuable insight into the pressures and complexities of corporate life and issues such as work stress, burnout, organisational dynamics and politics, work-life balance, and the challenges of parenting while pursuing a career.

Lori moved into Private Practice mid 2012 to pursue her passion for specialist individual therapy. Her areas of particular interest include:

  • Anxiety Disorders (Generalised Anxiety, Panic, Social Anxiety, Phobias, OCD)
  • Depression (including post-natal) and Bipolar Disorder
  • Insomnia and sleep disturbance
  • Grief/ Bereavement
  • Coping with physical health conditions such a fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, chronic pain and cancer
  • Developmental stage issues in Adolescence (from age 14 onward)
  • Work related issues such as stress and burnout
  • Positive psychology and coaching for personal development and optimal wellness
  • Clinical Hypnotherapy for a range of issues
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma
