Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Know if Therapy is Necessary for Me?

Therapy can be beneficial if you would like assistance with managing difficult symptoms you may be experiencing (e.g., low or fluctuating mood, stress, anxiety, panic or sleep disturbance). Therapy can also enable you to overcome unfinished business from the past or insecurities which are holding you back from meeting your full potential personally and professionally. Therapy is particularly useful if you require support with coping during difficult life circumstances, such as intense work pressure, or with significant life events, such as trauma or bereavement.

Therapy is different from talking to family or friends in that the therapist is an objective professional who is trained in specific methodologies and techniques to effectively assist you with your identified issues. The therapeutic process is completely confidential and will be tailored to your unique individual needs.

How do I Make an Appointment?

Please call us on 011 656 1058 to book an appointment. Our office hours are 9am – 6pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9am – 1pm on Fridays.

What Happens in the First Appointment?

At your initial appointment, your therapist will give you the opportunity to explain your current situation and explore the issues which you would like assistance with in a safe and confidential environment. The therapist will ask you relevant questions regarding your current symptoms/ difficulties and will also take a history of applicable information. At the end of your first session, the therapist will summarise their understanding of your difficulties and will assist you in identifying outcomes which you would like to achieve through the therapeutic process, which will be tailored to your identified needs.

How Long does Therapy Last?

The duration of therapy depends on the nature and complexity of the presenting issue/s. Typically, therapy lasts for 6 - 20 sessions, but long-term therapy may be required for complex and long-standing issues. Your therapist will be able to give you a general indication of the recommended duration of therapy after your initial appointment.
